<2025 The 5th Seoul Biennale Open Call for Creatives>
 

We are seeking creatives and artists to collaborate with Thomas Heatherwick, the General Director of the 5th Seoul Biennale, to create works exploring the theme of ‘Radically More Human’. We welcome applications from creatives across a wide range of disciplines who can interpret this theme and work together with communities in Seoul to communicate how the outsides of buildings in this city make them feel and how they could be made more joyful and engaging.   


1. Application Schedule

1) Open Call and Submission period: December 23, 2024 ? February 02, 2025, 11:59 am KST

2) Q&A: Inquiries until January 31, 2025, 09:00 am (KST)

3) Screening period: February 3, 2025 - February 27, 2025

4) Results announced: February 28, 2025

2. Submission Method: Email Submission

1) Applications must be submitted through the 5th Seoul Biennale email: sbau2025@gmail.com

2) The application form must be submitted under the name of the group’s representative.

 

3. Eligibility: Creators of any nationality residing in Korea

1) Architects, contemporary artists, photographers & videographers, fashion designers, and other creatives. Any group or an individual can take part. 

2) Creators with direct experience of collaborating with communities, ideally already working with a community in Seoul 

3) Those with skills in media such as fabric, digital art, mixed media or installations

4) Creators active in their fields within the past 10 years

 

4. Mandatory Papers : Submission in both Korean and English

1) Creator's CV and an introduction to the community they wish to collaborate with.

2) A proposal describing briefly how they would go about the process of engaging with this community over a period of 4 months.

3)A portfolio of relevant works (images or videos, up to 6 items).

4) A statement explaining the relevance of this work to the theme of the 5th Seoul Biennale.
