At the edge of Seoul, rapid gentrification has transformed farmland and villages into monotonous apartment complexes. In this process, people grow separated, local memories fade, elders are gradually displaced, and newcomers loose connection with the past.
This project seeks to reintroduce traditions back into contemporary neighborhoods. Through intergenerational workshops, elders and children reimagined the facades of apartments together―where personal stories and local culture intertwined with colors.
Their voices informed the design: sharp exteriors softened into terraces, while community emotions animated windows. It is an attempt to gain warmth and no_expressions back into buildings.
