Seongsu-dong is a place where factories, handmade shoe alleys, the nature of Seoul Forest, and ever-changing trends layer together to create a diverse landscape. This project reinterprets such landscapes on the architectural facade in collaboration with the local Seongsu community.
Through workshops, participants captured their beloved images of Seongsu in photographs and recorded the emotions and memories evoked by architectural textures. These collected records became “bricks” filled with colors and scenes, shaping the building’s exterior. Artificial intelligence then wove these bricks into harmonious patterns, completing a city facade infused with citizens’ memories and emotions.
In addition, elements commonly seen in Seongsu―such as iron doors, awnings, signboards, ducts, and pop-up structures―are used as charming decorative features. Imagining architecture as “wearing Seoul” will inspire citizens to cherish and love their city even more.
