Stella McCartney
This piece is an emotional journey begun in Stella McCartney’s childhood. Her mother, photographer Linda McCartney, collaborated with stained-glass artist Brian Clarke and had his work in their home. Her vision here expresses a partnership of light and opacity, smooth and rough textures, Mother Earth and human architecture. The roughness from the render wall comes from local and recycled aggregates, into which 20 cast glass works are embedded. Each carries its own surface character, all hand-made by glass artist Stephen Gormley.
