B19 Core disassembly system

FHHH Architects Inc.
B19 Core disassembly system

We envisioned a staircase accessible from both sides. This staircase is a cross between a winding staircase and a straight staircase, and allows movement between floors without turning the direction of the body. We decided to call this staircase a “scissor staircase”. The type of scissor staircase that can be seen in department store escalators connects three floors at once. This structure provides a stronger inter-floor connection than a skip floor that connects half floors above and below.

A scissor staircase is placed at the center of the site. Elevators are placed at both ends of the building and connected by a wide hallway. Office spaces are placed on both sides of the wide hallway, and restrooms, convenience spaces, and equipment spaces are positioned in the center near the staircase.

The building incorporates modular design focused on usability. The dimension of the area used by one person is set to 1.5 meters, and various utilities are planned at 3-meter intervals, allowing the space to be partitioned or reconfigured in various ways without changing the facilities.

There are commercial facilities that anyone can use from basement level two to the third floor. This area has a separate elevator in the center of the building, so it can be operated separately from the office space. Outside guests can access the 4th floor conference space, the 10th floor lounge, and the rooftop without interference with the commercial facilities and office space. Users of the office facilities can access the entire building by using the elevators at both ends of the building.

Unlike typical buildings, this building has no end. Movement and communication flow continuously without interruption throughout the day, connecting spaces endlessly.
