The Seoul Light Gwanghwamun event is a world-class media art exhibition held at Gwanghwamun Square, a symbolic space in the capital city of Seoul, featuring light and music. Gwanghwamun Square is a place where tradition and modernity coexist, harmonizing the historic Gyeongbokgung Palace with the surrounding skyscrapers. Through this media art exhibition―an encounter of art and technology held at Gwanghwamun Square―it expresses the complex and diverse aspects of Seoul.
The work introduced at the 5th Seoul Urban Architecture Biennale is the signature media facade piece of the 2024 Seoul Light Gwanghwamun event, titled Luminous Symphony: Symphony of Light. It begins with a prelude and progresses through four movements, culminating in a finale that follows the journey of light.
The light slowly spreading through the darkness greets the audience with mysterious scenes of the universe and twinkling stars, encompassing traditional Korean patterns and modern architectural designs to reveal the beauty of the East.
This masterpiece, which concludes a magnificent journey where the past meets the future and the East connects with the West, reinterprets space through light in each scene, presenting a splendid festival of light where the city and nature coexist.
The 2025 Seoul Light Gwanghwamun event will be held for 24 days from Friday, December 12 to Sunday, January 4
next year.
