B4 Hannam Sansuhwa

Haeahn Architecture (Taeman Kim)
B4 Hannam Sansuhwa

This site marks a key urban and visual junction, offering simultaneous views of the Hangang River and Namsan Mountain. Positioned at the gateway of a major city axis, it holds great potential yet remains visually monotonous due to height restrictions that have limited iconic development north of Hannamdaegyo Bridge.

The “One Tower” proposal leverages height relaxation incentives to introduce a new landmark connecting Gangnam and Gangbuk. It enriches the Hangang River skyline with depth and variety, aiming to share an evolved urban identity with the public.

To address the lack of green space in central Seoul and enhance daily life, the project introduces 9,170㎡ of open green areas―1.36 times the site area. A dynamic planting strategy based on balcony height and orientation creates a living facade that reflects seasonal changes, offering a restful urban retreat.

The podium, once closed-off, is reimagined as a cultural anchor with a library, archive, and gallery. The Sky Deck at the top is open to all through an independent vertical core, framing public views of both river and mountain.

Hannam Sansuhwa aspires to be a truly public space―where architecture, nature, and everyday life meet.
