This is an artist’s observation of the Songhyeondong lot when it was
hidden by the tall stone wall. Songhyeon(松峴), named after its pine
trees, was a hill located next to Gyeongbokgung Palace; the land
ownership changed many times and was abandoned indefinitely. Hyungjin
Park brings the reeds and grasses that grew on the abandoned lot through
the repetition of lines. The work encourages us to think about the
future of ‘Land Urbanism’ through Park’s artwork at Songhyeondong 48-1,
which everyone now owns.
Artist Hyungjin Park draws to record the scenery she encounters every
day. Park received a bachelor's, master's degree, and Ph.D. at Sungshin
Women's University Oriental Painting Department. She has held seven solo
exhibitions, including 'Other Times Another Time'(Gyeonggi Museum of
Modern Art, Ansan, 2022), 'Crow and Magpie'(Sahngup Gallery, Euljiro,
2022), and 'An Empty Space Sitting Green'(Onground, Seoul, 2019). Park
also participated in various group exhibitions, including 'DMZ
Exhibition: Check Point'(Camp Greaves, Paju, 2023), 'Contourless'(West
Bundle Art Center, Shanghai, 2022), and
