Sean Godsell Architects In this time of global warming, shade remains one of the simplest devices that we architects have at our disposal to reduce heat load on our buildings and so reduce energy consumption and by extension our carbon footprint. As well as improving the performance of buildings in hot climates, shade is also calming. It evokes silence. The silence of shade allows us to think. It nurtures us. Climate change makes a different sound. It is a daily siren warning us of the inevitability of global warming and demanding our response. This video installation tracks the movement of the sun across a model of the 2014 MPavilion.
