Ponentino is an exploration of wind circulation through the Lazio region. Once able to refresh cities, the sea breeze has lost its strength due to vast urban sprawl modifying air mass circulation. The film follows the exact path of the winds through the metropolis, from the sea in the morning to the mountains in the evening. Forest, fields, parks, parking lots, valleys, suburbs, each have a specific influence on wind circulation. There is no more gray and green, or architecture and landscape, but a vast system of surfaces and textures interacting within the atmosphere. Here we have an invitation to rethink our metropolis from natural cycles―geomorphology―and their interactions with our anthropic design of the Earth’s surface.
