Marcel IJzerman The unique design of the Dafne Schippers bridge integrates a bicycle and pedestrian bridge with a school and a park into one cohesive whole. As such, the bridge serves a variety of interests. Cyclists, residents, a primary school, the municipality, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment were all involved in this project, designed by NEXT architects and Rudy Uytenhaak + Partners Architects. The double land use with maximum space for greenery makes the bridge unique not only as a bridge but also as a place in its own right. This aerial portrait shows how the project functions as an accessway into the city and how cyclists, residents and the school's children can all use the space simultaneously.
