Innovation District- A Collective City Approach
The research and design projects discuss the analysis of the existing Donchon district in Daegu and the development of multiple plans for the district’s sustainable urban regeneration to a collective innovation district. The renovation of Donchon to an innovation district was planned on various scale levels. The specific themes addressed are, among others, collective city, mobility, buildings, renewable energies, sustainable water management and urban development, green and microclimate. The transformation to a more collective local society was addressed by the adaptation of participation methods, sharing approaches and cooperative partnerships, and the design of meeting places, fostering dialogue and consultancy. The plans for the collective innovation district are characterized by variance, multi-functionality, openness, connectivity and constellation. They facilitate creative communication, collaboration and engagement. The proposed redevelopment strategies and perspectives aim to provide new identities to the community and give ideas for innovative industries that every community member can sympathize with.
