Towards a (Dis)-Educating City: The (Dis)-Educational Workshop

Giuseppe Stampone

Toward a (Dis)-Educating City is an experimental project consisting of workshops and exhibits. It attempts to transcend the limits of architecture and art through the expansion of boundaries and the elimination of spatial hierarchies. Its multi-faceted nature, while maintaining the unique characteristics of the participating groups and individuals, enables the co-existence of a variety of experiences. This project has been inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, a pedagogical theory that derives its name from a small town in the Romagna region of northern Italy from which it developed. In the Reggio Emilia Approach, education is a domain of vital importance, a responsibility that falls not solely on teachers but on the city as a whole. Emphasizing children’s freedom of expression and community life, it promotes project-based, self-directed learning.
